OUR COMMITTEES

The World Health Organization (WHO) is the leading and coordinating authority on international public health, in the United Nations system. It understands its responsibility in meeting the commitments made by its member states. WHO is committed to addressing all of its member state commitments and supports countries in strengthening their health systems, providing technical assistance to countries on concrete actions, and securing access to medicines and essential health services at low cost. WHO also enables international cooperation for managing cross-border health issues. WHO is committed to improving health equity around the world. The world can count on WHO to foster global collaboration promoting collaborative solutions that respond to the evidence, and that are viable for ensuring global public health.

The UNODC (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime) is an international organization established in 1997 to serve the United Nations. Its primary purpose is to combat drug trafficking, organized crime, corruption, and terrorism. Its mandate also includes strengthening criminal justice systems and promoting the rule of law.

UNODC provides technical support and expertise to member countries. It promotes international cooperation and coordinates the fight against crime. It also collects data, prepares reports, conducts research, and conducts public awareness-raising activities.

Operating globally, UNODC is a key actor in the fight against crime and drugs.

The Third Committee of the United Nations General Assembly, SOCHUM, was established to address social, humanitarian, and human rights issues. The committee particularly focuses on the protection of fundamental human rights, the right to self-determination, the protection of refugees, and the resolution of global challenges such as apartheid and colonialism. In addition, SOCHUM considers the reports of bodies such as the United Nations Human Rights Council and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and provides recommendations to the General Assembly accordingly.

SOCHUM stands as one of the most important platforms promoting international cooperation for securing peace and safeguarding human rights on a global scale.

Mitolojik Tanrılar Kriz Komitesi, tüm çağlardan ve kültürlerden gelen tanrıların aynı masada toplandığı benzersiz bir kriz platformudur. Antik Yunan’ın Olimpos tanrılarından, İskandinav diyarının Aesir’lerine; Mısır’ın kadim tanrılarından, Mezopotamya, Hint ve diğer mitolojik panteonların kudretli figürlerine kadar birçok karakter bu komitede yer almaktadır.

Komitenin amacı, yalnızca tek bir kültürün değil, tüm insanlığın mitolojik geçmişini temsil eden bu figürlerin ortak krizler karşısında nasıl kararlar alacağını ve kendi çıkarları doğrultusunda nasıl hareket edeceğini incelemektir.

Birleşmiş Milletler Genel Kurulu Silahsızlanma ve Uluslararası Güvenlik Komitesi ya da kısaca DİSEC, 1945 yılında Birleşmiş Milletler Tüzüğü’nün imzalandığı Genel Kurul’da Birleşmiş Milletler'in ilk ana komitesi olarak kuruldu. Çalışma alanları küresel silahsızlanma sorunları ve uluslararası toplumların güvenliğini tehlikeye atan ve barışı tehdit eden meselelerdir. Çalışmaları "nükleer silahlar", "kitle imha silahları", "dış uzayda silahsızlanma yöntemleri", "geleneksel silahlar", "bölgesel silahsızlanma ve güvenlik", "silahsızlanma tedbirleri ve uluslararası güvenlik" ve "silahsızlanma makineleri" olarak yedi tematik kümeye bölünmüştür. Bu komitede ele alacağımız sorunlar için ise "geleneksel silahlar", "bölgesel silahsızlanma", "silahsızlanma tedbirleri ve uluslararası güvenlik" temalarının üzerinden ilerlenecektir.

Birleşmiş Milletler Nüfus Fonu, 1969 yılında kurulmuş olup, temel amacı her bireyin sağlıklı ve üretken bir yaşam sürmesini sağlamak, aynı zamanda kadınların ve gençlerin potansiyellerini gerçekleştirmelerine destek olmaktır. UNFPA; üreme sağlığı, aile planlaması, cinsiyet eşitliği, gençlerin güçlendirilmesi ve anne-çocuk sağlığı gibi konularda çalışmalar yürütür.

Kuruluş, dünya genelinde güvenli doğum hizmetlerine erişimin artırılmasını, zorla evlilik, cinsiyet temelli şiddet ve kadın sünneti gibi zararlı uygulamaların ortadan kaldırılmasını hedefler. Ayrıca nüfus dinamikleri ve demografik değişimlerin kalkınma üzerindeki etkilerini inceleyerek ülkelerin sürdürülebilir politikalar geliştirmelerine katkı sunar.

UNFPA, “her gebeliğin istenilen, her doğumun güvenli ve her gencin potansiyelini gerçekleştirebildiği bir dünya” vizyonuyla çalışmalarını sürdürmektedir.
